چکیده

The successful transplantation of autologous and isologous tissue has been achieved for many years. However, the ability of an adult host animal to reject a homograft from another adult animal of a different strain within the same species has prevented successful homotransplantation in adult animals. As early as 1953 Billingham and Sparrow' demonstrated that living donor epidermal cells treated with immune serum were rendered incapable of growth when grafted back onto the original donor. Shortly thereafter, Voisin accelerated the homograft rejection of guinea pig A transplants to guinea pig B by injecting the recipient with serum from a rabbit actively immunized against the skin of guinea pig A. This passive immunity to guinea pig A skin transplants could also be transferred to guinea pig A and to guinea pig C. Further manifestations of a skin-specific antigen were discovered when the rabbit developed alopecia, epithelium thinning, and necrosis of superficial hair follicles. In 1960, this auto-allergic phenomenon was confirmed by Chytilova et al.' Further indications that the immunological response of the host to a homograft plays an important role in determining the time survival of the homograft were noted when Medawar demonstrated that specific leukocytes could immunize males and females against the graft; when Bollage0 detected antibodies in the recipient's serum to the tissue extracts of the donor; when Hildemann demonstrated that the survival time of a homograft could be decreased by the injection of various numbers of the homologous spleen cells prior to the homotransplantation; when Muller' induced the clouding of transplanted corneas by

Study on immunity of Leishmania major new crude antigen as a vaccine against leishmaniasis in out bred (resistant) and Balb/c (sensitive) mice

The aim of this study was to prepare a new formula of Leishmania major (L. major) crude antigen and evaluate its effect on immune system. For this purpose L. major promastigotes were cultured, harvested, washed, and resuspended in physiologic saline and the suspensions were dispersed in five equal batches. 0.1 ml of various doses of the cocktail antigen were injected intradermaly in three group...

Endogenous retroviruses lead to the expression of a histocompatibility antigen detectable by skin graft rejection.

Mov mouse strains differ from their respective, coisogenic partner strains by the embryonic, germ-line introduction of Moloney murine leukemia virus genomes. The possibility that retroviral insertions into the mouse genome resulted in gain or loss mutations at non-H-2 histocompatibility loci was investigated by reciprocal skin grafting between Mov mice and mice from coisogenic, background strai...

Modification of the Immune Response of Mice to Skin Homografts and Heterografts by Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma.

The immunological response of mice given implants of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma was modified as evidenced by the failure of ascitic mice to reject primary or secondary skin homografts or rat skin heterografts. The site of tumor implantation influenced its effect on the host, since subcutaneously implanted Ehrlich ascites carcinoma did not alter the immune response. The presence of the tumor in t...

Effects of saffron oral gavage on protection of skin flaps against tissue necrosis and oxidative stress in rats

Introduction: Today, skin flaps are used in many reconstructive surgeries and healing of skin lesions as one of the main methods of treatment. Despite improvements in the fields related to enhancement of skin flap survival, flaps viability and their efficacy are still threatened with issues such as ischemia-reperfusion, oxidative stress, tissue necrosis, and even apoptosis in the affected tissu...

Studies on a Substance T H a T Promotes Tumor Homograft Survival (the "enhancing

Like homografts of normal tissues, tumors grafted between unrelated strains of mice may survive for a short period of time but are, in most cases, ultimately rejected. However, it is now well established that in certain tumor-host combinations, tumor homografts can be induced to survive and grow until the death of the mouse, by pretreating the host with killed tissue preparations (see reference...
